It seems that some users installing iTunes 8 on Windows systems are encountering an error message:

“ERROR: The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning cds and dvds are missing… Please re-install iTunes”

iTunes uses GEAR software drivers for importing and burning CD’s & DVD’s. Re-installing (or installing the latest GEAR drivers seems to fix this problem. No reboot required for this install.

You can get the current GEAR drivers here: http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm

If this does not fix your problem download a fresh installer for iTunes here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Uninstall iTunes, reboot,  & then do a fresh install of iTunes.

USA Today is reporting that Best Buy will begin selling iPhones in their 970 stores on September 7, 2009. They also have an exclusive lock on sales of the popular device through Christmas, 2009, so you’ll only be ably to buy them at AT&T, the Apple Store, and Best Buy. The electronics retailing giant also sells Apple Macintosh computers at 600 stores.

Not sure how adding 970 outlets will help Apple keep up with demand, while stores still sell out early in the day, leaving long lines of potential customers sans phone.
